The holidays are upon us, and here at Emerald Lakes, we’re ready to spread some joy with a meaningful tradition. This year, we’re joining Morguard’s North Pole Express, a four-week donation drive focused on bringing comfort to foster children in need. We’ve teamed up with Comfort Cases, a wonderful nonprofit that makes a positive impact on the lives of kids in the foster care system. We’d love for our Emerald Lakes community to join us in making this season extra special!
What Is the North Pole Express? 🎅
Picture a sleigh filled with more than just toys—this initiative focuses on collecting essential items that can brighten a foster child’s day. The North Pole Express is Morguard’s nationwide holiday drive where communities like Emerald Lakes come together to collect donations for children in foster care. For the next four weeks, our lobby will be transformed into a cheerful drop-off zone for your generous contributions.
Who Are We Supporting? 💙
We’re honored to partner with Comfort Cases, an inspiring nonprofit founded by Rob Scheer, who grew up in the foster care system. Comfort Cases was created to change the reality that many foster children carry their belongings in trash bags. Instead, these kids receive “comfort cases”—backpacks filled with essentials like pajamas, books, blankets, and hygiene products.
These comfort cases are more than just backpacks—they’re a message of dignity, comfort, and hope. Each item is chosen to help these children feel seen, valued, and supported during tough times.
How Can You Help? 🎁
We invite all of our wonderful Emerald Lakes residents to join us in spreading holiday cheer! From now until December 13th, we’re collecting the following items in our lobby:
- New pajamas (all sizes welcome)
- Diaper wipes (packs of 10-48)
- Children’s books (to inspire bedtime stories)
- Small blankets & stuffed animals (for comfort and snuggles)
- Baby washcloths (perfect for keeping little ones clean)
Please remember that all items must be new and unused, and they should not be religious or holiday-themed to ensure inclusivity for all children.
